What kind of wax are Dark Lantern Perfumery Candles made of? 100% Soy Wax.
Are Dark Lantern Perfumery candles light, medium, or heavily scented? Most people would agree that Dark Lantern Perfumery candles are medium to heavily scented.
Are Dark Lantern Perfumery Candles Vegan? Yes!
What are Dark Lantern Perfumery Candles fragranced with? A blend of natural essential oils, and paraben free, phthalate free, non-toxic fragrance oils.
Am I suppose to take the crystal off before I burn the candle? Short answer, Yes.
Long answer, you will get a more even burn if you remove the large crystals and large herbs before burning your candle. The wax we use is incredibly soft, so it is very easy to remove them. If you decide to use your Dark Lantern Perfumery Candle to your intention setting practice, take your candle, set your intentions, and then remove the crystal, as it has already infused its energy into the candle. Once you remove your crystal, carry around with you for 3-7 days to bring vitality to your intention setting practice!
Why does my candle emit black smoke? TRIM YOUR WICK! Wicks should always be trimmed to 1/4-1/8 of an inch. All candles will emit a small amount of black smoke, known as soot or sooting. Your candle will emit excessive black smoke if you do not trim your wick. Get into the habit of trimming your wick before you light it, each and every time.
How long do the candles burn? To ensure you get the most out of your candles, please ensure you are burning them properly! This means, trimming your wick before each burn, allowing the candle to melt all the way to the edge of the glass (creating a full melt pool) with each burn, and burning in 3-4 hour increments. If you follow these steps, burn time on an 10oz candle will burn for 50-60 hours! 3oz candles will burn for about 15-20 hours!
Why has my candle created a sink hole in the middle? This can be avoided, it is not always the candles fault. Be sure you allow your candle to burn evenly to the edge of the glass, creating what is called, a full melt pool. It will take a candle around 1 hour to reach a full melt pool. Allow this to happen each and every time you light it, especially during the very first burn. Candle wax has something similar to what we call "muscle memory", if you don't allow the melt pool to reach the edge of the glass, you can count on it only ever burning to that point the next time you light it.
What makes an all-natural soy wax candle different?
While paraffin wax is refined from crude oil, soy wax is made from soybeans, which is a completely renewable resource grown here in the US. Compared to paraffin, soy wax burns cleaner. Paraffin wax candles can be be toxic to inhale. Soy wax also burns slower than paraffin, so you will find that soy wax candles last longer.

What do I do with my candle once its finished burning? The wax we use is incredibly soft, so it is very easy to wash. Soak the wax in hot water for up to 5 minutes, then pour out the water, and remove the wax into the trashcan with a spoon or knife, then wash as normal with soap and water. If you wish to recycle your vessel, and have a collection of 4 or more, contact darklanternperfumery@gmail.com for a return label, or if your local, bring them to any in-person event that Dark Lantern Perfumery is attending, and we will give you a discount on your next order! If you wish to return your vessels with out washing them first, we welcome it! However, there is no discount for unwashed vessels.
